Wedding Reception:

Some Restaurants provide special order meals if the host explains in advance and  in detail the nutritional needs as “Vegan without Oil and Fat”

At Amarante’s Sea Cliff,

East Haven, CT

This famous Italian Restaurant and Reception Facility in the New Haven, CT harbor bay was just outstanding in accommodating my special dietary needs. The chef himself came well before the dinner was served to my table and asked me for my needs. He accommodated my wish for having boiled potatoes instead of Italian pasta. Look, what he came up with! Christmas Dinner Invitation:

Xmas with Carnivores

Private Invitation for Xmas Dinner

Invitation to a private Xmas dinner party is no problem if the host allows for some moderate food preparations. There are many meals that can be prepared in advance and require only little cooking before serving like Book Choy with Mushrooms over rice.

Unplanned Dinner Invitation:

Cooking Out

An unplanned invitation to a private dinner does not have to be stressful. Grabbing whatever ingredients were available at home I managed to prepare in the host’s kitchen a quick meal of Stewed Spinach over Soba Noodles (098). It came out pretty nice and could rival the roasted ham served to others.

At Home:

Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving Dinner

It might be challenging to prepare an extra vegan dinner course in the busy turkey kitchen. However, some meals are very easily and quickly prepared with only little efforts. Here, Chard with Mushrooms and “Chicken Cutlets” over rice were served to several vegan guests while the rest of the family and friends enjoyed their “real turkey”.

It is easy to contribute to a shared dinner party with a dish that fits all seasons, satisfies all food preferences and prepares straight forward and consistently: this great Vegetarian Chili dish will do it all and be a hit as well.

Going Out:

Regular Restaurant Experiences

Limited Selection in Fat-free Side Dishes

Most conventional restaurants are willing to accommodate special dietary requirements and are creative in serving a variety of available low-salt, low-fat and low-sugar side-dish items. Complementation from the survival kit can enrich even the most limited choices. However, rarely restaurants shine by serving also a fat-free low-salt entrée.

Going Out:

Vegetarian Restaurant Experiences

Limited Selection in Fat-free Entrees

Vegetarian restaurants have often also some vegan courses but catering to a general public these dishes are far from fat-free or even salt-free. However, commonly the chefs are more than willing to accommodate special needs of a low-salt, low-fat and low sugar diet by modifying some of their regular courses.
